Activities : Larned is a welcoming community in the heart of Kansas where hospitality and historic roots run deep. Visitors find a variety of options, including a tour of Fort Larned, one of the best preserved Pony Express era military forts in the country and several other museums and landmarks.
Airport : The Larned – Pawnee County Airport is a public owned facility managed by Steve Gross. The airport is in the process of securing funding to improve the runways. New navigational equipment has been installed that lowered the ceiling heights to 450 feet. Used for both business and recreation the Larned – Pawnee County Airport is a great place to stop and visit.
Attractions : Its central location has made Kansas a crossroads for generations. The trails that were the precursor to today’ Interstate highways traveled through our state. The Santa Fe and Oregon Trails may have been the most famous for transporting people and cargo. Even mail traveled through Kansas via the Pony Express. Many forts were set up along their paths to help protect the travelers on their journey. These trails gave way to railroads that crisscrossed the state creating many communities that people today call home.

Golf Courses : The 9-hole “Larned” course at the Larned Country Club facility in Larned, Kansas features 2,747 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 35 . The course rating is 33.9 and it has a slope rating of 106. Larned golf course opened in 1950. Tom Threewitt manages the course as the General Manager.
City Government : As home to four state institutions and a National Park facility, government is a large sector of the local economy.
Hospitals : St. Rose Ambulatory & Surgery Center (St. Rose ASC) serves a population of 60,000. St. Rose ASC is located in Great Bend.
